Orioles: Pauley talks

David Pauley acknowledged after his three-inning performance today that he's allowing too many hits, but he tried to put the best face on the fact that he has allowed 22 baserunners in 9 1/3 exhibition innings.

“I threw a lot of strikes... maybe a few too many,’’ Pauley said afterward. “You always want to keep guys off base, but I’m making sure I’m throwing strikes. That’s better than having to find the plate. It’s a work in progress, but it’s definitely getting there.”

He left the game with the score tied, 2-2, so he was not involved in the decision. He is now 2-0 with a 7.71 ERA in three Grapefruit League appearances.
