A day after I wrote that the city had not cut the island-prairie in the 4300 block of Roland Avenue, the job was done. Hooray. While this is a small matter in a sea of city challenges, it is heartening to see responsiveness.
Earlier this week, neighbors reported hearing footsteps and popping sounds similar to gunfire. They also reported seeing a man running from a Roland Park lane (a.k.a. alley) and jumping into a car that had been parked on our street.
Not long after this, police cars with bright searchlights cruised silently up and down the street. This was in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday.
Although no one yet knows what happened, why the man was running, or why the getaway car was parked on our street, the police response is heartening.
