Baltimore landscape architecture firm Mahan Rykiel Associates will redesign Rash Field, with plans to start construction next fall, the Waterfront Partnership said Thursday.
The 45-person firm, founded in 1983, was chosen from 13 firms for the $3 million project, the Waterfront Partnership said.
Mahan Rykiel counts among its projects the instrument-strewn Pierce's Park. It also is working on the landscapes at Harbor Point, Harborplace pavilions and the controversial redesign of McKeldin Plaza.
The selection committee included city and community representatives. Waterfront Partnership President Laurie Schwartz said the group was impressed by the ideas included in Mahan Rykiel's proposal, especially slopes and hills it proposed to activate the space. No design has been finalized.
