Pescadilla, Bien Trucha

Unlike the homespun taquerias dotted along the Fox River Valley, Geneva's Bien Trucha is more a "girlfriends-and-margaritas" spot, a Kane County version of Frontera Grill. Every taco I've sampled here is first-rate, with beer-battered shrimp, pork belly, crispy tilapia respectively ranked 2, 3 and 4. No. 1 is the pescadilla, a hard-shell taco stuffed with minced swordfish that's surprisingly light for being deep-fried. Perhaps it's the cooling avocado pico de gallo and chipotle mayonnaise that's transportive to the Acapulco shores. 410W. State St., Geneva, 630-232-2665. - K.P.
