Performer of the YearNicole Sohn, Northeast

Last winter, Sohn claimed the Class 3A-2A Central regional and Anne Arundel County titles in the shot put with a personal-record throw of 33 feet, 1 1/2 inches. This season, the senior took the county crown, but fell to second place at the Class 3A-2A East regional championships.

But Sohn added a more coveted prize to her resume when she won her first state title with a mark of 38-10 1/2 . Sohn exceeded the 39-foot mark on two occasions.

Her best effort occurred at an Anne Arundel-Baltimore County Challenge when she heaved the shot put an area-best 39-8 1/2 . Sohn won six of seven shot put competitions.

Coach of the YearSkip Lee, Chesapeake

Surprisingly, the Cougars had never won a county title indoors or outdoors. But the drought came to an end this winter when Chesapeake denied Broadneck a fifth straight crown and grabbed the school's first county championship.

The Cougars rode a county record-setting performance in the 55-meter dash by senior Britney Foreman and a team-wide effort that produced at least one point in 10 of 15 events.
