Baker Donelson is pleased to announce that five of its attorneys have been named "IP Stars" in the 2017 edition of Managing Intellectual Property's IP Handbook, an annual publication which recognizes leading law firms and lawyers in intellectual property. Two of the attorneys recognized are shareholders in the Firm's Baltimore office.
Royal W. Craig is a practicing patent attorney who represents scientists, engineers and technology-oriented companies. He helps clients protect, defend and commercialize their intellectual property. Mr. Craig was formerly an electronic design and software engineer, and has nearly three decades of subsequent experience in patent procurement, licensing and transactions as well as in trademark, copyright, trade dress and trade secret issues. He is active in civic and professional organizations, currently serving as chair of the Maryland State Bar Association Intellectual Property Section and as an adjunct professor at the University of Baltimore's Center for Technology Commercialization.
E. Scott Johnson has a diverse legal practice, which includes licensing, trademark, copyright, technology, Internet, entertainment and arts and media law matters. He counsels individuals, companies, non-profit organizations and educational institutions on a wide range of intellectual property matters. Mr. Johnson has been recognized by national and local legal and business publications for his intellectual property work, is a leader in numerous community organizations dedicated to film, music and the arts, and has been a voting member of The Recording Academy since 1985. He also serves as chair of the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation.
The "IP Stars" list is based on extensive research conducted by a team compiling market feedback and independent information. Individuals included on the list are practitioners with long-established practices and clients in the industry.
The IP Handbook also listed Baker Donelson as a "notable firm" in the state of Maryland for its intellectual property work, which includes a significant amount of patent and trademark prosecution, post-grant proceedings (such as inter partes reviews) and transactional services, in addition to litigation.
