Parris N. Glendening

Though he hailed from the Washington area at a time when the Washington Senators still played in the capital, former Maryland Gov. Parris N. Glendening said he attended many more games at Memorial Stadium during that era. "I used to go out there when I was a fledgling college professor and beginning County Council member," he said. "Those first memories very much go back to the old Memorial Stadium. As governor, probably the high point by far was when Cal Ripken broke his [consecutive games] record and we had a nice gang of friends and others there. It is a memory that will be with me forever."
