Wallace Monument

Clue 10 Wallace Monument, Druid Hill Park, 1890. Facing the reservoir with sword drawn, the statue of William Wallace -- "Patriot and Martyr for Scottish Liberty" -- is in the company of a Columbus statue and just beyond, the Maryland Zoo. For his heroic efforts to free Scotland from English rule, Wallace was brutally tortured to death. Bonus fact: Seven hundred years later, Braveheart's Mel Gibson cinematically suffered the same fate.
