STEELERS RUN OFFENSE VS RAVENS RUN DEFENSE
The past two weeks, the Ravens' run defense has given a little bit of ground, allowing 132 yards to the Jacksonville Jaguars and 109 to the Cardinals. Still, the unit is third in the NFL, allowing 89.1 per game. The Ravens held Pittsburgh to 66 yards in Week 1. Rashard Mendenhall is averaging 3.1 yards per carry and has three touchdowns in six career regular-season games against the Ravens. Because of injuries, the Steelers have used different offensive line combinations in six of their eight games. That hasn't helped Mendenhall, who is 20th in the league with 421 rushing yards. His primary backup is former Bowie State standout Isaac Redman, who has 54 carries for 218 yards and one touchdown. By now, the Steelers know running the ball on the Ravens is predicated on handling defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (above center) and getting a blocker to tie up inside linebacker Ray Lewis (above right). Lewis has 312 career tackles against the Steelers, his most against any team.
