Donated Ad Space

As the area's leading news and informationmedium, The Sun has a unique opportunity to assist nonprofitsthrough the donation of in-paper and online advertising space. These donations are often part of an event sponsorship by TheSun.

Charitable event sponsorships: TheBaltimore Sun is an active media sponsor of many worthwhilecharitable events in Central Maryland, sponsoring about 75community events each year. In return for donated ad space, theevent/charity will typically:

- Designate The Baltimore Sun as the exclusivedaily newspaper media sponsor.
- Provide camera-ready ad artwork in the agreed-upon size.
- Ensure that our logo appears on all appropriate promotionalmaterials (posters, signage, billboards, event program ads, othermedia ads, etc.).
- Give us the option to display signage at the event.
- Provide tickets to the event.

The Baltimore Sun's agreement to sponsor anevent or program does not guarantee news coverage, however. Weencourage producers and promoters to work directly with thenewsroom to arrange coverage of their events.

The Baltimore Sun makes every effort to placeads in requested sections, but because of the nature of breakingnews and other unpredictable space demands, placement cannot beguaranteed. Occasionally, promotion ads are moved from one sectionto another. If a sponsorship ad is bumped out of the newspapercompletely, we will make arrangements to run the ad as soon aspossible in a future issue. All parties should approve copy andlayouts of sponsorship ads.

Media sponsorship requests must be made inwriting and should include a description of your organization, including history, purpose and programs. Proposals for mediasponsorship should be made a minimum of one month prior to when thefirst ad needs to appear in The Sun. Send your requestto:
