Tour #5: Ring Bologna And Pepperoni

Take Emmaus Avenue east, crossing over S. Fourth Street and turning left on Albert. Bear right onto Chapel as the road splits, then turn left on Paoli for a great block of lights, including 27 E. Paoli on your right. Turn right on Front and proceed to Susquehanna, where you'll turn right.

Come over the top of the hill toward Fountain Hill, a lights display hotbed, and halfway down, turn left on Public. Make a right on Jeter and you'll see a nice display on your left at 1507. Turn right on Clewell, left on Delaware, right on Fiot -- just before the St. Luke's entrance -- and left on Pawnee for great lights at 746 and 748 on your left. Turn left on Mohican, right on Delaware, and make a sharp right onto Seneca, where the house at the corner of Third and Seneca -- don't miss the roof -- is a showplace. Then go around the block, turn right again on Delaware and turn right at the light.

At Five Points, go up Wyandotte over South Mountain and turn left on Seidersville Road. Continue as it becomes Hickory Hills, turn left on Kevin Drive and enjoy the lovely 2039 Carolann Way at the corner -- Go Eagles -- and the rest of this elegant neighborhood.

Continue on Hickory Hills/Friedensville Road into Hellertown, where you'll turn right on Main Street. At the car wash, turn left on Magnolia, left at Reintzhimer, right on Saucon and left on Tobias. The house at that corner is terrific, but what are those guys in the cocked hats doing to that poor animal?

Get back on Main, turn right and follow into South Bethlehem. Stay left on Fourth as the road forks toward the Sands casino. Turn right at Hayes, right at the bottom of the hill and then bear quickly right onto E. Third and follow it to the end. You'll be blown away by the displays on your left. Follow back up to Fourth and take that to New Street, where you'll turn right and go over the Fahy Bridge. Notice how the lights change color from the south side to the north side.

Bear right to go up the hill, turn left on Church Street -- see the Star of Bethlehem on the mountain to your left? -- and right on Main Street to enjoy the beautiful downtown. Turn right on Broad, right on New and left on Market to see some of those beautiful old homes, too.

Then get back to New and turn right, heading north. When you cross Elizabeth, look to your left, then proceed to Washington, where you'll turn right. The 300 block of Washington, including 333, is terrific. Turn left on Easton Avenue. The street signs are hard to see around here, but after you've passed Henderson and Worthington on your left, turn left at Lincoln. Check out the animals in the charming display at 2136 Lincoln on your right.

Turn left on Decatur and right when the road ends at Jennings to get back to Linden, where you'll turn right. Turn left at Barnsdale/Butztown and left on Barclay. I took my wife to the gorgeously decorated home at the end of this cul-de-sac to disprove her notion that I ain't got no taste.

Return to Barnsdale, turn left, then left on Johnston. There are nice displays along here, including 488 on the left and a great tree, also on your left. Turn left at Center Street, then right on Macada. When you hit the light at Jacksonville, turn left, then make your second left onto Sunset View Drive. The mammoth display at 1135 is the ultimate 10, the standard by which all other displays are measured. I advise you to park nearby, walk around and make a contribution to the food bank collection in the driveway.

Go around the block to get back on Jacksonville and turn left. You'll see two nice displays at the stop sign. Continue to Schoenersville, where you'll see the spectacular 1315 Catasauqua Road across the street. Once you've checked that out, turn right on Schoenersville. Turn right on Colonial Road north of Gregorys, almost at Weaversville. You'll see two great houses on your right, including some great roofage and Santa about to take flight in a hot air balloon.

If you're hungry for more, get back to Schoenersville, turn right and then make a quick left onto Weaversville Road, which has been milled for your driving discomfort. When you hit 329, turn right and you'll see a nice display on your left. Then you can either continue to hit Airport Road or turn around, turn left on Savage Road just beyond Weaversville, and follow that to E. 10th Street, Northampton, and more of the Jalapeno Cheese tour.
