Clip-clop, clip-clop: Budweiser Clydesdales will return to Annapolis for Military Bowl

The nation’s most famous team of horses will return to Annapolis in December for the Military Bowl, organizers confirmed Wednesday.

The Budweiser Clydesdales will continue their tradition of leading the Military Bowl parade, kicking off Dec. 31 just hours before the game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. before the game at City Dock and works its way downtown before heading back to the stadium and the game’s noon start. The Military Bowl is presented by Northrop Grumman, Maryland’s largest private employer, and benefits the USO of Metropolitan Washington-Baltimore.

Teams for this year’s bowl game — from the American Athletic Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference — have yet to be selected.

A color guard will lead the procession, followed by the Budweiser Clydesdales, musical groups, civic organizations, military-themed groups and youth clubs, including Anne Arundel Youth Football Association championship teams. Last year, 78 units signed up to participate.

Groups interested in participating in the Military Bowl Parade can register on the Military Bowl website.

Each team participating in the Military Bowl will be represented by its marching band and spirit squad. The parade also will feature several recipients of the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military honor.
