Jacques Kelly is a native of Baltimore, and he has read The Sun since the mid-1950s, when he was sent to the neighborhood drug store to buy an early edition. He started work as an intern at The Sun in 1969 and the next year began a long association with the old News American, the Hearst afternoon daily. He rejoined what was then The Evening Sun in June 1986. His column has appeared continuously in Baltimore newspapers since October 1978. He lives in Charles Village.
